The Central Plains Society of Mammalogists (CPSM) support student research through the Student Research Award in Mammalogy. The award for 2006 is $600 and is available to graduate students and upper-level undergraduate students. The research award primarily will support field and laboratory research in any area of mammalogy; allowable expenses include purchases of expendable supplies, gasoline for travel to field site(s), and small items of equipment related to the student's research project. Applications are restricted to students enrolled in a college or university in the Central Plains region. The Central Plains region consists of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Location of the student's research field site is not limited to the Central Plains region. Applicants must be members of the Central Plains Society of Mammalogists at the time of application. Membership forms are available on the CPSM website and from the Secretary-Treasurer.
